Coming Home to Yourself Through Shadow Work with Michelle

This week we have a special guest and my good friend- Michelle! Michelle is a writer, educator, and nurse mentor who helps nurses cultivate inner resiliency and wellbeing, so they can live a life they truly love beyond the bedside.

A key component of self-growth and healing is learning to love your shadow self and having the courage to explore those pieces of yourself that you’ve repressed. My conversation with Michelle today takes shadow work a layer deeper! I know this episode is going to help sooo many of you so grab a cup of coffee and get ready to learn about:

  • Michelle’s journey and breaking point that brought her to who she is today

  • How the psyche of your shadow self was created

  • The dark shadow and the golden shadow

  • 3 ways to integrate shadow work into your life

If you’re looking for support in your healing journey come join us inside Mindset Makeover! This month’s theme is passions and purpose and we are doing tons of shadow work and unlearning this month to create space for our passions and purpose to shine through.

About Michelle:

Michelle is a writer, educator, and nurse mentor who helps nurses cultivate inner resiliency and wellbeing, so they can live a life they truly love beyond the bedside.

From dealing with the complexities of critically ill children to working frontlines at the epicentre of New York during the COVID crisis, Michelle now mentors other nurses as they navigate the emotional, psychological and physical demands that nurses face daily, especially when it comes to finding work-life synergy and re-discovering their greater meaning and purpose.

Michelle has experienced life altering degrees of burnout, anxiety and depression; after almost quitting the profession completely in 2017, she realized “self care” goes beyond what is prescriptively taught to nurses: exercise, eat healthy and take a bubble bath. Through her own self developed approach, she has discovered how the modern nurse can remain feeling full while giving to others, and move beyond the innate survival mode and into thriving.

Michelle has made it her mission to teach nurses “how to be a nurse”, as current education only emphasizes the to do and task oriented side of nursing, yet the profession itself, deeply calls nurses forward into their most vulnerable and compassionate form. By teaching nurses the principles of self awareness and how to set their life up for success (inside and outside of the hospital walls), Michelle has a vision of empowering nurses to step into their best selves, influencing the nursing profession to rise and indirectly better patient care. A healthy, whole and self aware nurse is the way of the future.
